Looking Forward to 2017 at The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company

Happy New Year!

2017 is our 20th year of growing flowers to harvest for wedding confetti! The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company has grown enormously over the last two decades, but not changed all that much at all - we are still a working farm and we still do everything by hand!

The Wyke Manor Family Estate has been farming in Worcestershire for over 250 years. It was back in 1997, when considering ideas for farm diversification, Charles Hudson hit upon the idea of real flower petal confetti. The story of The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company began on a late spring afternoon…
Charles paused outside the village churchyard on his way home, and strewn around the lych-gate were tiny wet pieces of coloured paper, debris from an earlier wedding, that had turned the church entrance into an eyesore. Charles could see why so many churches had banned the use of confetti within church grounds, but it seemed a shame that the wedding celebrations could not have started as the happy couple stepped out of the church. When he arrived home some petals fell from the flower bouquet Charles was carrying for his wife and he experienced a 'eureka' moment - confetti made of real flower petals would biodegrade like blossom!

In the early years there was plenty of experimentation with different flowers, harvesting and drying techniques. Eventually Delphiniums were chosen as eth best confetti petal for their ability to retain their shape and beautiful colour when dried. Charles carefully developed his own delicate process of drying petals - using just sunshine and fresh air. Each summer since the late nineties a huge field of flowers has bloomed on the farm, and all petals are picked by hand, to be sent out to weddings all over the world. It is quite a spectacular sight to see!

The simplicity and beauty of the idea of throwing flower petals over the happy couple meant that the business took off at a pace, and celebrity clients including Prince Charles, Madonna and Michael Douglas helped to capture interest.

Twenty years on the demand for natural, biodegradable confetti has meant that rose petals, wildflowers, hydrangeas, and lavender have been added to our collection, and handmade confetti cones, bridesmaid baskets, petal bags, beautiful paper envelopes and handmade horseshoes are all available to add those finishing touches. The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company are truly wedding confetti experts and have learnt all the tips and tricks to ensure every couple get their magical confetti moment.

Festive Confetti Mixes from The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company

It’s a little early to be thinking about Christmas but if you are planning a December wedding it’s probably been on your mind all year! If you are getting married in the run up to Christmas then you can either choose to embrace the festivities or ignore them all together - but if you want to add a festive touch here and there your confetti petals are an easy and fun way to do so.

Here are our top trends for confetti petals for December 2016…

Christmas Colours –
·        Red, green, white and gold are classic festive colours and combine beautifully to create merry confetti mixes. Take a look at our different petal collections and simply mix your favourites!
·        Try Gold Delphiniums - brilliant to add into your blend to add a little touch of Christmas, and are still totally biodegradable.
·        Red Rose Petals are a great choice for any winter wedding and stand out well against both the bride’s dress and darker winter backdrops, which will make your photos look great!
·        And don’t forget the confetti cones and packaging too – The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company can create totally bespoke Photo Cones for you – so if you’d like a confetti cone of you and your H2B in Santa hats – they can do it!

Frosty Sparkle –
·        Silver is a big trend for winter 2016 and it’s stylishly Christmassy too – add sparkle to your confetti photograph with Silver Delphinium Petals and couple them with blues, purples, whites and creams for a modern, glamorous look.
·        Silver Skeleton Leaves add wintry elegance and interest to a wintry confetti mix and are great for decorating aisles and pathways too.

Rich and Warming –
·        The natural, vintage, homespun wedding theme, wildflowers and bunting in summer, switches to cosy candles and blankets in winter, and for 2016 warm colours and rich hues are very popular.
·        Rich merlot, purples, burgundy and gold are wonderful confetti colours for a winter wedding and coupled with music paper or brown paper confetti cones, raffia and hessian, are really Christmassy.
·        Accessorise your confetti baskets with ribbons and little Christmas tree decorations. Scatter petals on your wedding breakfast tables for easy decorations.
·        And don’t forget to get your flower girl to scatter petals down the aisle - it’s very good luck!
